Three Race Categories
Big Wheels – Standard big wheels right off the retail shelf with 18 and over bodies on them.
Skateboards – Coffin rides with hand pushing. Helmets, gloves and pads highly recommended!
Open Division – Heavily modified Big Wheels or similar. Show-offs only.
How It Works
Head-to-Head matches in a race tournament for each category. Winners get awesome trophies and a chance to defend their title each year.
Rules
Skateboard Races are in the Coffin Ride form. No kneeling or sitting!
Stock Big Wheels are normal big wheels from a toy store – no rubber tired big wheels or motorized tricycles.
Open Division can be any type of wheeled custom ride on toy – as long as it has plastic wheels.
Chris from Chum sent in this arial spy satellite image (re: Google Maps… yes big brother is watching) of the Hoose Ditch in Lake County. Allegedly it’s a cool spot expect for the one guy who will let his dog out on you if you’re skating it. Anyone got any pics?
Here’s a little something that our buddy Brett Borovic put together. It’s the guitar track from his up coming song How I Miss Sweet Gravity playing over some footage from skating in down town Cleveland. This was all filmed by Brett too. Go to brettborovic.com for more music, pics, and more.
Nabbed from the Blood Wizard on Vimeo. Totally awesome backyard setup. Extra points to the ones who built this for the sheer commitment factor. Some folks build a box for their driveway or maybe even a quarter. They went all out with this one and concreted what appears to be the majority of their backyard. Great work.
Here’s an interesting story about an ancient, in skate years, skatepark that was apparently uneartherd by Wisconsin D.O.T. crews. The spot is being used by the D.O.T. to store equipment during a two year freeway project.
Word spread quickly and the local old guys who used to shred the park did the only thing you could do in this case, they went down and started to dig out the bowls!
After they were busted by the cops a couple times the D.O.T. filled in the bowls with concrete rubble. There were a few people that rode the bowls before they were filled in for a bit.
This Thursday, August 5th, the Glory Bound Skatepark Tour will be stopping by Evolution Skatepark in Canton. Mike Vallely, Duane Peters, Bill Danforth, Christian Svitak, and Cyril Jackson will be coming through with some full tilt skateboarding annihilation. From the video above it looks like a ripping good time!!!
Correction… for some reason it looks like the tour will not be stopping at Evolution!
